On being usy

I am so busy that I didn't have the time to change the typo in the title of this post. This week my entire, dratted, darn thesis is supposed to be, not done, but done-ish. A first draft of the entire shebang is going to my supervisor's assistant (who is more than a little scary - talented people often are), and I worry that I haven't been able to write a coherent thesis, that I haven't been able to incorporate all the alterations and changes I've already been asked to make. In general I worry about letting people down. (And because I am in thesis writing mode, I should specify that "people" in this case indicate a) my supervisor; b) my supervisor's assistant; and most importantly, c) myself.

And I also applied for a job...

Well at least you haven't gone to pieces
Over your new job and old thesis.

(Hey, I'm a poet!)

Will this new job keep you very usy?

Thesis? Job? Wow! I am thrilled that I managed to cut back an adventurous shrub while the new puppy slept. You are impressive!

I think you should make yourself a mug of hot chocolate, whether or not it's cold outside. If you can find the time, that is. You deserve it.

BREATH IN, BREATH OUT, now don't you feel better? Just remember to breath and do your best. All the rest will take care of its self. :D

You can do it, Mari!!! Just keep swimming my little giraffy friend! (do giraffes swim? Do slugs swim?) And keep in mind, all your friends will be here to PLAY when you are done!

What's the thesis about, if you can share. Good luck on the thesis and the job! Sending positive thoughts your way.

Thank you everyone - so good to have such supportive people around :) Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy and group-huggy!

And for those asking - my thesis is about American peace initiatives in the Middle East in the 1950s and 1960s. Very interesting, very demanding. Every time I think I know what I'm talking about, another can of worms opens up.

Good luck weathering the storm. I prefer being busy to being bored...but I don't really like either one taken to the extreme.

Best of luck pushing through.

You will do just fine! I completely understand the stress and how you feel though. I wrote a Master's thesis, probably one of the most stressful times of my life.

Seriously, take a few deep breaths (and big gulps, I suggest from a martini) and relax. We all know you will do great! :)

I'll bet you've done just fine on your draft.

Hope the job works out, too! Is this just a "pass the time and earn some extra money" job or something in your field?
