On green

Green is my very favourite colour in the whole, wide world. Almost any green will do – I love the whole range from light, hopeful, springish green to the dark, mysterious, wild-forest-with-trolls-in-it green. Even the bluer shades that remind me of Mediterranean waters will do.

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted a green coat. One that will make our dark, cold winters a little, well, greener. For years I have failed to find one, however, and if I did, you could be sure the store did not have it in my size. Thus, I compensated by buying a variety of scarves, mittens, caps and shawls in virtually every green there is.

When I went to the US, however, I discovered to my delight that shopping there and shopping here is radically different. In the US I finally found a beautiful, green coat, and – oh, joy – it fitted!

I bought it, and proudly brought it home where it was immediately put to use, seeing as Norwegian winters truly last from November to (at least) March (this year, I’m guessing we’ll have snow well into April. No way the massive amount outside will be gone in just a month).

What I discovered, however, was that none of the greens in my scarves, mittens, caps or shawls in any way can be combined with the one in my coat. They just don’t match.

You can’t have it all, can you?

Oh, such a conundrum... I guess you will have to find a NEW scarf, hat and mittens in a more compatible shade. I suggest plaid. Lots of plaids have some green, but not so much that an exact match is quite as important... green STRIPES in with a few other colors, and they often are nice and soft.

Tami - I am, as usual, exagggerating (with my g's for instance, I often exaggggggerate...). I do have other scarves. But they aren't as pretty. But I might consider looking into plaid ;)

Joris - is this something I should recognize...? At the moment I have a funny image in my head of you with a neon green WOBBLY hat as that is what my wobbly mind chose to read...

Jan - there's an idea! Maybe, maybe...
