On... well, that's what I need help to find out

When I embarked upon the journey that is NaBloWriMo, I complained about how I'd survive blogging every day for a month in the middle of thesisfinishmaniastressery. My friend Natasha suggested that I'd simply post a giraffe every day (which would also reverse the dropping giraffability of this blog, by the way). It's true, I probably could keep this blog alive by merely posting giraffes I own (or have drawn. Or not drawn). It's become quite the collection over the years (the drawings having experienced something of a peak during the project onemilliongiraffes.com). If I restricted myself to one per day, I reckon I'd manage to continue this blog on an entire giraffe-related basis for at least a year.

Don't worry. I won't do that.

But I thought I'd use Natasha's tip in a pinch this month, since I am in a permanent state of breakdownability (no words are as awesome as those with -ability at the end!) because of the thesisfinishmaniastressery (notice no -ability at the end of that one). So I went to see if there were any particular giraffes I felt like sharing, and then I came across one I drew this summer.

The Giraffy Higness What's His Name
I'd tell you the proper name of this spotty (and slightly arrogant, by the look of him) dude, but I have no idea. He came out of nowhere, he has no story, no name, and no identity (so I've no idea why he looks so smug). He reminds me of a cartoon character, I think, but other than that I can't say what his purpose in this world is. So, I'd like some help from you guys.

What's this giraffe called?
Why does he have blue eyes?
What is his story?
And who in the world is his dentist? (I'd really like teeth as white as that)

He reminds me of the emperor/lama from the emperors new groove.

He's a boxer. Not the dog, the one who competes in the Olympics.
And that's not teeth- that's the pad that all boxers wear.

He does look surprisingly smug for a giraffe. He would do well as a prince somewhere, with royal dentists and the royal blue eyes.

I love!!! Look at those eyes, I think that says something of power! How cool!

I have been fortunate enough to talk too much in my days at home so the blog posts have been rolling out, hopefully I haven't stuck my foot in my mouth now! I'm happy we're coming to a close!

Aw, he's just common giriff-raff.

Anne-Lene - hehe, now that you mention it... Love that movie :D

Natasha - now that's a neat explanation! His "teeth" really did look "plasticky"....

Mark - you = hilariousility!

TGE - the royal giraffe, eh?

Jen - I'm happy for that too. Not that it has been THAT much work for the most part, as I have cut down considerably on length and (sadly) comments for the duration of NaBlo, but it will be nice to not have everyday posting to worry about!

Noname - tee hee, no royalty you say? ;)

He looks like a car salesman, but not just any old used-car salesman, one of those high falutin sports car guys that gets all the women by driving the showroom models all around town.

I expect the blue eyes got him the job, and he has a guy on call to fix his teeth if they ever so much as come into contact with red wine or coffee.

He may or may not be Lenny. That could just be his dentist's name.

He's very cute. Have you ever, for your post-thesis life, considered illustrating children's books?

I'll need to think more about answers for your questions, but he's super cute, and I love his uber-blue eyes. Maybe he can only see blue, and he's otherwise colorblind?

His name is Walter, he looks smug because his eyes match his blue pants you cannot see and he knows his teeth show all that off.

His story..he was let go by Chippendale's last week and is now roaming the internet in disguise. :D

No answers to your questions, but I will say that as soon as I saw him I thought: but he needs to have his own TV show or cartoon strip. And with your sense of humour??? It's perfect! Do it.

That is a giraffe in desperate need of some lingerie training, and I know just the scandalous llama to give it to him. She'll have him in a boa and giraffy heels in no time, and then he can blink those baby blues in the cabaret line.

His singing voice is a little nasally, but I bet he can carry a tune.

Englebert is a ladies-man/giraffe. His blue eyes attract the ladies. Those white-strips are a great help too.

Thank you so much for your kind words on my blog.

Hey, I'd be happy with a giraffe post every day. I love them, too, and have a fair collection of them myself.

I presume you've read the book "Zarafa" by Michael Allin?

I don't have any answers for you, but I can say that you are a talented lady! A multi-talented lady...

He's adorable - and working for Hollywood in teeth-whitening commercials. His stage name is Stunability and he wears the blue contacts to first draw the watcher's eye to his ever-cute face before they notice his teeth and take out their sunglasses.

At least, that's my guess. Otherwise, he's just cute. :)

Maria - Lenny the Fancy Car Salesman! I'm sure he would be wildly successful. Who would be able to turn down a car sold by a giraffe?

Rosie - ha! You're having a laugh, right? I couldn't illustrate anything, for one simple reason: it is completely impossible to know when I can or cannot draw. It's like I'm bipolar when it comes to drawing. There are days when I can, and then there are days when I absolutely cannot. I have absolutely no explanation why. It's not an inspiration thing, either. Some days I just don't know how drawing works!

Jules - hahaha, Walter the Chippendale! I'm sure he'll have no trouble finding another job ;)

Barbara - I'm flattered, but that would mean I'd have to reproduce him, and that conflicts with my drawing bipolarity...

Holly - he probably is!

Tami - *giggles* They'd have a blast. I bet she'd charm his spots off ;)

Clarissa - Englebert is a GREAT name for a giraffe!

Kelly - would you believe I haven't read it? I have it, but I have just not been able to read it yet. It's definitely on my to-do list for "life after thesis" :)

Pat - aww, now you made me blush!
Thank you :)

Debbie - haha, Stunability! I think that's a perfect career for a giraffe - Hollywood, here we come!
