On Summer Reading

I'm on a mini-vacation back in my hometown for a few days, so I hope no one will think terribly of me for spending more time with my family than in the blogosphere... In addition I am also hoping to get some reading done. I have finished the first four Percy Jackson books, and I am craving the fifth. If you happen to work in a bookshop in Oslo that carries it, can you please hold it for me until Wednesday? (My own shop is out, and the publisher is out, so I can only hope that there are stores that still have them in stock, or I will have to order it from abroad and that will take FOREVER!) I have also brought another book - Mark Zusak's "I Am The Messenger", which also should be very good if I am to judge from the other book of his I have read - "The Book Thief".

Summer reading is on my mind, then, more than writing. This should also be evident in the little something I have written today over at the Burrow Blog. It's my first "real" post there, (yesterday's Drabble Dare - which you should also check out, there are still four days left to churn out 100 words - didn't really count as a "real" post...), so please head over and take a look. Don't hesitate to leave a comment there - we are a friendly bunch, and we're most happy with any sort of attention ;)

Hope the rest of you are having a great day and that you are able to get some reading or writing or whatever you'd like to do to praise the summer (or winter, if you're down under...). Have a great Monday, everyone!

Thanks, Yvonne - I will be around a little, but I probably won't make it around to a whole lot of other blogs than my own. But it is reassuring that you guys will be there when I get back :)

This week on my blog I'm doing book reviews. The best book I've read all summer was The Half-life of Planets. Go check it out.

Hello Cruella

Re, "....so I hope no one will think terribly of me....":
Well I will of course, but that's my nature. However, I could be persauded to amend my thoughts by the payment of chocolate or second hand camera phones.....

Lovely post.
Have a wonderful time with your folks.

All the best, Boonsong

I agree with you on "we are a friendly bunch". That's one of the things I really like in the blog-world; people seam to be friendly and positive-minded in general. Rude and offensive comments are extremely rare. It's very different from the general trend online, when you read for instance (anonymous) comments in online newspapers. Maybe writers are a peaceful kind?

I brought the Percy Jackson series home with me for the summer. I couldn't read it because the kids in the class never stopped passing it around :)

Have fun!

I haven't read any Percy but I've heard good things about it - I hope you get your hands on the fifth one! :)

Have a great summer... enjoy your down-time!

I haven't read the Percy Jackson series, but I've read most of The Red Pyramid (which is Rick Riordan's newer series on Egypt). If you're enjoying PJ, you'll probably also really love that one. My nephew got it the weekend it came out and has read it a bajillion times (his words).

Enjoy the fam and the reading!

Erinn - thanks - I'll definitely check it out (both the book and the blog)

Boonsong - oh, tough one. I'm gonna go with chocolate since the only second-hand camera phone I have is the one I drowned when I was 17 and I still haven't thrown it out... If you'll take it I'd be happy to send it in your general direction, though...

Cold As Heaven - so true, and very reassuring. I guess it makes it easier to be bold and go out there with whatever it is we want to share through our blogs :)

Jemi - once you get started it will be hard to put them down! (If the kids in your class are passing them around you should confiscate them and read them yourself!)

Talli - I've pretty much wolfed them down, hungrily craving for more... I am going on a little hometown search for a copy tomorrow, but my hopes aren't high...

Rosie - oh, yes, that is next on my list! Must. Order. Now! (Love bajillion!)
