On H

The Burrow is doing more than novel writing this month. We have also put together a drabble feature where we each day present a new letter, inspired by the A-Z blog challenge that travelled the blogosphere (though not this blog - I was not organized enough for that back then) in April. The idea for the blog challenge was to write about something starting with the letter of the day. Those of you who are apt at math will notice that an alphabet with 26 letters does not add up with a month with 30 days (and it still doesn't if you add the Norwegian quirky letters: æ, ø and å - though we don't). However, if you skip Sundays, a 26 letter alphabet fits just perfectly. We have actually included Sundays in the feature, but they don't have a designated letter... (You will just have to take a look to see what I am talking about)

Anyway, today is the letter H, and the drabble is written by yours truly. Rather than sticking with the original format of writing about a topic starting with the designated letter, however, we have chosen to play around with alitteration, specific qualities of the individual letters and so on. In total, the Burrow's June feature offers 30 drabbles ranging from sweet to edgy to just plain old weird (yeah, those would be mine).

Please have a look, and don't hesitate to tell us what you think! http://www.the-burrow.org/

Mari, I LOVE how you actually wrote your drabble onto a postcard and took a picture of it! And I'm also slightly jealous of your neat writing - mine is atrocious. *snort*

And I also loved this drabble too - the mind boggles about the ways you could spend your honeymoon in a hammock....*snort*

Or, PERHAPS, a woman named Helen (who you apparently think has a neat writing - I'll tell her if I see her) just happened to write a postcard (accidentally shaped like a drabble with a weird amount of words starting with the letter H) that unfortunately got sent to me instead of Helen's friend, Hannah. Probably because she glued a piece of paper with a giraffe on it instead of a stamp...

Perhaps.

Is she the same Helen who appears in Krystal's story? If it is, I am not surprised she has neat handwriting - DD's daughter cannot not have neat handwriting.

Cool postcard, and love the stamp and the keyring.

Poor (Krystal's) Helen - let's hope not! I think this one sounds a little too conceited to be related to Dumbledore at all...

*snort* Mari, your illustration is fabulous. Can't believe you didn't use "hing" at all, though. ;-)

Love it! I don't know how y'all are keeping up with all this, though...novel writing, blogging, Drabbling, and FBing! Very inspiring.

Very intriguing idea, but too bad that I can't partake in it. I'm currently taking care of my aunt, trying to pack up for college, carry out a rebellion in my high school for firing two teachers, writing a novel, and blogging. :(

Still enjoyed your post though. :)

With that many H's, it could be practically a tongue twister if you ask me.

Write on, Cruella!

Leanne - I see you're not buying the "it got lost in the mail" story either... Thanks, though ;) I thought about writing about hing for a long time, but then I figured that I would spend the entire drabble just explaining it, and where's the fun in that?

Elizabeth - I'm not sure you need to be impressed at others' multitasking - in my mind you must be Wonderwoman to get through everything on your daily schedule! As you can see from my "novel-meter" posted in the right corner here, though, the novel writing part isn't going so speedy for me. It has been at standstill for a few days now... But thank you :)

Vatche - It sounds like you have a lot on your plate too! Maybe you can participate in next year's BuNoWriMo (we're thinking it might become a tradition)?
